A terrific film set in the war era of the 1940s, Intimates tells the moving story of the lives of 2 women from very different backgrounds whose paths cross, become inextricably tied together only to be separated during a bombing raid.
Carina Lau plays the 8th wife of a rich silk factory owner who rescues and saves the life Charlie Yeung’s character, a worker at the factory who nearly dies after a self-induced abortion. The lesbian love aspect of it is very subtle and at times heartbreaking. The film gives not only an insight to the lives of women during war time 1940s, but also has many beautiful, evocative scenes of society in old China.
This long, on-going German soap Verbotene Liebe is about an aristocratic family of whom Carla Von Lahnstein, the main character is a lesbian and much of the current storyline revolves around her love life. This lesbian kissing scene is between Carla and her employee, Stella who manages the family estate. Stella is however, only lukewarm towards Carla even though she’s aware of Carla’s feelings for her.
Stella is the latest love interest for Carla in the TV series and somehow her lesbian relationships are fraught with difficulty which is one of the reasons why there is a strong fan base for Verbotene Liebe.
